Helping Hands

First off, thank you so very, very much for your continued support of this ministry. Its mission of providing food and clothing to the people of Raleigh County is needed more now than ever before. Our number of families and individuals seeking help has been steady for the most part. God is blessing us as we continue to serve his people. Your prayers for this ministry are always appreciated and greatly needed. Also if you have a few hours in the morning one day to spare, we can always use an extra set of hands.

We are asking for you to continue to donate non-perishable items, toilet paper and soap. Items can be either brought over to Helping Hands or left in the black container outside the church office.

Now that school is out, we here at Helping Hands expect our requests for help to be even greater. Our clients are extremely grateful for the food and clothing items that they receive. Your donations of non-perishable food items, soap and toilet paper are always needed. We are also taking summer clothing donations on Tuesday’s only. This mission is a vital part of our outreach to the community and your support and prayers are appreciated.

The mission of Helping Hands has been to lend a hand to those less fortunate by providing food and clothing.   While the COVID virus has slowed down our clients, we continue to be here and serve the people of the city Beckley and Raleigh County.  There is one thing (or maybe two things) that you can do to help.  We are always in need of non—perishable food, toilet paper and bar soap.  These items can be left in the back container outside the church office.  More importantly we need volunteers to work both in the front office and also in the food room.  We are open Tuesday through Friday from 9:00 until noon.  You will be blessed if you can spare one morning a week.   See Edna Nasby and let her know when you can help.   As always, please keep us in your prayers. 

Now that the temperatures are gradually warming up, Helping Hands is continuing to lend a hand with food and clothing to those less fortunate in Beckley and Raleigh County. We are taking clothing donations at Helping Hands on Tuesday’s only and we’re asking for spring and summer clothing in good condition. We are also collecting non-perishable food items, toilet paper, bar soap and canned food. These items can either be taken directly to Helping Hands or left in the black container outside the church office.

Through some generous donations and grants, we have been able to update some of our freezers and refrigerators. This was a necessary purchase as some of our equipment was quite old. We thank God for these donations so that we can continue our mission.

We are always in need of volunteers. We are open Tuesday through Friday from 9:00 AM until noon. So if you can spare a few hours a week, contact Edna Nasby and she will be more than willing to find a spot for you. As always, continue to keep us in your prayers.

Praise God for all the blessings we have received over the past several months and for the many, many donations of food, blankets and coats. We have been able to help countless people and families through your generosity. We also want to thank all of those who helped with our Christmas toy give-away last month. There again we helped families with toys and a treat bag for the children. What a blessing.

As always, we continue to need blankets and coats through the winter months. Basically as soon as we put these items out – they are gone and keeping someone warm this winter. Your food and clothing donations are also a great help. Clothing donations are only being taken on Tuesday’s at Helping Hands. Food and clothing donations can also be left at the church.

Finally, we ask that you keep us in your prayers through these winter months. Our mission grows almost daily and your prayers are what keeps us going. God bless each and every one of you.

As the calendar turns to the last month of 2020, Helping Hands continues to reach out to the less fortunate here in Beckley and Raleigh County with food and clothing.

Our clothing room is now open Wednesday and Thursday from 9:00 until noon to serve our clients. We are taking clothing donations on Tuesday’s only until further notice.

Non-perishable food items are a constant need. Your donations can be brought to Helping Hands Tuesday through Friday from 9:00 until noon or left in the black container outside the church office.

We have several projects ongoing at the moment. The first is our coat and blanket drive. With the weather turning colder, our clients are in need of new or gently used blankets and coats for men, women and children. Blankets seem to go out as quickly as they come in and coats are also in demand. These donations can be left in the black container outside the church office or brought to Helping Hands.

Our second project involves creating treat bags for our kids for Christmas. Right now we are in need of apples, M&M’s, toothbrushes & toothpaste. The non-perishable items can be brought to the church between Dec. 13th & 17th. The fruit can be brought between Dec. 15th & 17th.

Finally, we would like to thank all of you for your donations throughout the year. With God’s help, you have made it possible for us to continue to serve our clients and we look forward to continuing this in the coming year. God bless you all and have a Merry, Merry Christmas.

Helping Hands continues to serve families here in Raleigh County with food and now clothing to those who are in need. Our clothing room is now open Wednesday and Thursday for the clients to get some much needed clothing. We are also collecting winter coats and blankets. This is a much needed item in the winter especially with our growing homeless population. These items can be dropped off at Helping Hands during the times they are open Tuesday through Friday from 9:00 until noon or left in the church office.

Thinking ahead to Christmas, with Mac’s Toy Fund not happening this year we need approximately 250 new toys and 250 used toys which will be distributed in December. These items as well can be dropped off at Helping Hands. We are also doing treat bags for the children of our clients and this program is explained below. Please keep us in your prayers during this difficult time as we continue to serve the people of Beckley and Raleigh County.
