SPARK, the aspect of The Light offering special interest classes, is addressing cyberbullying through a series of classes for students, parents and grandparents. Did you know that 90 percent of West Virginia children in grades 4 through 8 admit that someone has said mean or hurtful things to them online and that 52% of high school students report having experienced some form of harassment by their peers through an electronic medium? The WVU Extension Service will offer a lecture on Sunday, October 18 at 6 pm, participants will learn about proper use of social media, how to recognize when you are being cyberbullied, “sexting” and strategies to minimize the effects of cyberbullying.
