ABW Summer Update

The Lizzie Lewis Circle had their first meeting in June in over two years and a great time was enjoyed by all who attended. We learned about how the used postage stamps that we collect help in the printing of Spanish literature which is distributed around the world.

Our next meeting will be July 7th at 12:15 p.m. here at the church. We talked about many new projects we will be working on one of which is making new Chrismonds for our Chrismond tree. Come out and see what Lizzie Lewis Circle is all about.

Ladies, Save the Date!

The Lizzie Lewis Circle of American Baptist Women will hold its first post-Covid meeting on Thursday, June 2. We’ll meet in Fellowship Hall at 12:15 p.m. with a snack provided. All women are invited and your participation is encouraged as we reorganize. Please plan to attend and bring your ideas for projects, activities, and fellowship.

ABW Continues to Work

Our ladies are continuing their two mission projects even though they are not meeting. They are collecting used postage stamps for one project. There is a container on the counter in the church office for these. The other project involves collecting quarters for Weirton Christian Center for their Quarters for Grades program. This program helps the Weirton Christian Center award their children for good grades which motivates the children to keep on the right track. These donations can be dropped off at the church office.

American Baptist Ladies Here at FBC

The ladies of the A.B.W. have not resumed meeting in person yet but nevertheless we are still working. We are still collecting used postage stamps which we send off as part of one of our mission projects. The other project that we are involved in is at Weirton Christian Center. They have a Quarters for Grades program to help inspire the children to keep their grades up and we send them $100 at least twice a year. A Message from the Executive Director of ABW Ministries

As we approach the Advent Season, let us continue to count on God, prepare inwardly, and share actions of grace and generosity. Let us stay united in ABWM’s mission, vision, purpose, and core values. Our ministries are adaptive and relevant, allowing us to sustain our core programming and proactively and reactively initiate new programming. Generous donors like you have supported our mission and ministry. You recognized that we urgently and thoughtfully address issues that weaken our communities and disproportionately render women and girls despair. May the peace of God be within you!

Rev. Dr. Gina Jacobs-Strain
Executive Director, ABW Ministries

Lizzie Lewis Circle is Still at Work!

Even though our Lizzie Lewis Circle is not currently meeting, we are continuing to work on our mission projects and thank you for your help.

We are collecting used postage stamps for one mission project. There is a container in the church office on the counter where you can leave them. We are also involved in a great program at Weirton Christian Center where we collect quarters for a program called “Quarters for Grades” at the Weirton Christian Center. These quarters are sent to them on a regular basis where they are used as incentives for the children who come there to get good grades. What a way to help a child’s education.

ABW: Receiving and Offering Gifts

American Baptist Women’s Ministries is Christian women receiving and offering gifts in response to our commitment to God. The world and the church need women strong in the Lord, responding to one another and to the needs we see around us. Today, that is the ministry to which God calls us.

Our ladies here at FBC are continuing to support their mission projects even though they are not meeting through the Quarters for Grades program at Weirton Christian Center as well as collecting used postage stamps where they turn into support for various mission projects. As an ABW woman, which all ladies are, we strive to help in any way we can to spread the gospel of Jesus Christ to our home mission projects as well as our international projects. We may be small right now, but we are mighty when we band together.
