Helping Hands

Now that the weather has turned colder, the number of clients that we serve increases drastically. Many, many homes are struggling to keep food on their tables for their families and that’s where Helping Hands reaches out with a food box (or two) depending on the size of the family which helps offset the cost of food each month. There is also a clothing room that has clothing, warm coats and blankets that are available.

As a result of the harvest gathering last month from the church, our pantry is stocked and coats and blankets are available but it won’t take long for this supply to be exhausted. We ask that you continue to support this ministry with non-perishable food, soap, toilet paper, bar soap, coats, blankets and winter clothing. Last but certainly not least please keep us in your prayers as we serve the people of Raleigh County.

Helping Hands is continuing to help those less fortunate here in Beckley and in Raleigh County. Now that fall is here, winter can’t be far behind and that’s where our need really grows tremendously. We will be needing blankets, winter coats and winter clothing. We also are in desperate need of men’s clothing and under garments.

ministry of Helping Hands is growing more and more each month as they continue
to serve the needs of the people of Raleigh County.  We are in need of  
toilet tissue, bar soap, coats, blankets and deodorant.   Our food shelves are almost bare so your donations
of non-perishable items are also needed.    
Donations can be left outside the church   office in the black container.  We
are also in need of some “helping hands” to serve as volunteers.  We are open Tuesday through Friday from 9:00

Now that school is out and summer is officially here our demand for food and clothing here at Helping Hands continues. We continue to serve the people of Raleigh County and that demand is growing every week. We are always in need of non-perishable food that will offset items that we have to purchase as well as plastic Kroger or Walmart bags. These items can either be dropped off at Helping Hands or left in the large black container outside the church office.

We also receive donations from local supermarkets that also provide meat, vegetables and baked goods. There is a regular crew of men who do these pick ups and we really appreciate the time these men give every week doing this task.

With vacations coming on, we are always in need of volunteers to fill in while our regular workers are out of town. We are open Tuesday through Friday from 9:00 until noon. Contact Edna Nasby and let her know when you can help. Also, don’t forget if you shop at Kroger to add us to their Community Rewards program. You can do this at Kroger.com as long as you have a Kroger card (and who doesn’t have one of those).

Helping Hands is continuing to help those less fortunate and in need of food and clothing. On an average month help is given to over 700 families who are residents of Raleigh County, A special thank you to those who volunteer at Helping Hans also those who go to our local merchants and pick up donated food items every week. This is a tremendous help in keeping our costs down.

On the subject of money, do you know you can donate to Helping Hands and it doesn’t cost you anything? HOW? If you shop at Krogers and have a Kroger card, you can donate through their Community Rewards program and a portion of your purchases goes directly to Helping Hands. Check it out on the Kroger web page or contact the church office if you need help signing up.

Hopefully winter is over and spring is in the air. We served hundreds and hundreds of people this past winter and through your generosity, their needs were met but the need is ongoing. We are asking for your non-perishable food and spring and summer clothing donations as well as soap and toilet tissue. These donations can be put in the black container outside the church office.

We also are in desperate need of plastic Walmart and Kroger bags. We use hundreds of these a month and your help would be greatly appreciated. These can also be put in the black container outside the church office or dropped off at Helping Hands.

We appreciate the volunteer and prayer support of the people of First Baptist and others and ask that you continue to keep us in your prayers as we continue to meet the needs of the people in the Raleigh County area.

Helping

Large food donations from Krogers, Food Lion and Walmart, Little Cesar’s in Beaver have been a tremendous help in meeting the needs of our families.   Your donations of food and clothing as well as bar soap and toilet paper also go a long way in helping these families.   Both are greatly appreciated.   Donations can either be dropped off at Helping Hands when they are open or be left in the large black trash can outside the church office.

Also, if you can find a spare three hours in a morning, we can always use your help.  We are open Tuesday to Friday from 9:00 to noon and you will be blessed if you lend a hand.  Please keep us in your   prayers as we continue to meet the needs of the people of Raleigh County.
